Drought funding ends for Tablelands and Gippsland 1 Oct 2008
Exceptional Circumstances (EC) assistance ceased in the following areas on 30 September 2008: Casino, Armidale, most of the area known as Central North-North West and Central and East Gippsland (pending the Australian Government''s consideration of a revised boundary). Income support payments will cease on 30 September 2008, with applications for Interest Rate Subsidies having a 28 day grace period before ceasing on 28 October 2008. A National Rural Advisory Council (NRAC) subcommittee inspected the Central and East Gippsland EC declared area on 25 September 2008 to consider revised boundary options put forward by the Victorian Government. The 14 Interim Assistance areas established under the Australian Government''s September 2007 drought package will also expire on 30 September 2008. These areas are spread throughout Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales and Tasmania.
