Southern wheat crops ruined
3 Oct 2008

The national wheat crop will total 20.8 million tonnes says NAB. Good rains in Queensland and Western Australia are expected to underpin excellent harvests in those two states. Strong hot dry winds in the Wimmera and Mallee regions of northern Victoria last weekend ruined 10–20 per cent of that state''s wheat crop say the Victorian Farmers Federation. Many Victorian farmers are already baling their wheat crop for hay. Southern NSW and South Australia are also affected by dry conditions.
