Roos are greenhouse friendly
3 Oct 2008

The kangaroo industry has welcomed suggestions in the Garnaut report on climate change that Australia should raise the kangaroo cull from three million annually and replace much of the cattle and sheep grazing industry with kangaroo culling. The Kangaroo Industry Association said methane from cattle and sheep was 21 times more destructive as a global warming gas than carbon dioxide. An emissions trading scheme could allow graziers to get paid to reduce sheep numbers whilst deriving income from kangaroos. AgForce said replacing 14 million cattle with kangaroos was impractical.
