Too many grapes leads to wine price war
31 Oct 2008

Wine production was up 27 per cent in the year to June 30, leading to fears by producers of a glut in the market and a discounting war. The wine grape harvest was up 34 per cent to 1.8 million tonnes. Reds and roses were up 42 per cent said the Australian Bureau of Statistics as some regions recovered from the drought. The Winemakers federation said Australia was growing too many grapes and the industry needs to go through some readjustment.
