No exit grants for Victorian irrigators
7 Nov 2008

Federal Water Minister Penny Wong has outraged Victorian farmers and the state government by denying irrigators access to exit grants because the state government has not agreed to abolish certain trading rules. The Commonwealth wants Victoria to abolish a 4% limit on trading water out of a district and a 10% limit on purchasing water for non-landowners. The Commonwealth believes both rules will limit its attempts to buy back water. Source: The Age 7/11/2008
