WorkSafe targets farm machinery
17 Aug 2005

Work safety authorities in Australia are set to launch a four-month blitz against sales of dangerous farm machinery. Inspectors will randomly investigate 700 manufacturers, suppliers, importers and retailers. Tractors, tractor implements, grain augers and all-terrain vehicles will be checked for safety features such as power take-off guards and rollover protection. WorkSafe Victoria said they had feedback from farmers that dealers are selling machines without certain equipment but selling them as add-on extras.
