More money for quarantine
10 May 2006

Australia’s ability to respond to serious pest and disease emergencies has received a $16 million funding boost in the federal budget. Australian Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Minister Peter McGauran said the funding would be provided over four years to help widen the scope of the Enhancing Animal Health Infrastructure Programme. He said additional funding for Biosecurity Australia would allow for more on-the-ground import risk assessments, and increased verification of import proposals and processes.

Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, 10/05/06
