Queensland Rail charges more for less
5 Sep 2006

Queensland Rail and EGL, the logistics joint venture between AWB and GrainCorp, will lift rates for cartage of grain by 12 per cent. Last year rail rates for carting grain went up 10 percent and this last increase puts the rise over two years at more than 20 percent. Queensland Rail has also reduced the number of trains dedicated to grain cartage from eight a week to four. The rate rises and reduced services are shifting demand for grain cartage to trucks.
