Storm relief for horticulturalists
17 Nov 2003

Horticulturalists in New South Wales whose crops were damaged by storms in October can apply to the State Government for financial relief. Ian Macdonald, NSW Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, said up to 380 vegetable, fruit and flower growers affected by storms between October 2 and 26 will be eligible for natural disaster aid. Eligible growers will get access to loans up to $130,000 with an interest rate of 2.5 per cent and a two-year period free of interest and repayments.

The storms savaged banana plantations, vegetable crops and native flower gardens on the north coast between Yamba and Port Macquarie, in the Southern Highlands and in the Sydney basin.

The Daily Telegraph, 17/11/03, page 13.
