Still the pick of the crop
3 May 2004

Fruit and vegetables grown in Australia are as nutritious as they were 20 years ago, according to a report commissioned by Food Standards Australia and New Zealand. The study analysed six essential minerals in 40 different fruits and vegetables, and found there was little difference between nutrients in those eaten in 1981 and 2000/2001.

The results seem to refute claims that overfarming is stripping Australian soil of essential minerals.

The Advertiser, 3/5/04, page 12.
