SPC eyes Golden Circle's call for help
21 Jun 2004

Golden Circle would be a logical fit with SPC Ardmona, SPC MD Nigel Garrard said yesterday. There's little duplication between Golden Circle's key product lines of pineapple, beetroot and corn and SPC Ardmona's tomato, baked beans, peach and apricot products.

Mr Garrard said SPC Ardmona would be interested in looking at Golden Circle, but he emphasised the two groups are not currently in discussions.

Golden Circle, an unlisted public company owned by about 700 farmers, plunged to a $31 million loss in calendar 2003. It has embarked on an advertising campaign, asking shoppers to purchase extra Golden Circle products.

Australian Financial Review, 21/6/04.
