Takeover talk no distraction for SPC Ardmona
7 Oct 2004

SPC Ardmona said that any takeover of the fruit processor would be difficult, and would need to be made at a full price. Managing director Nigel Garrard said restrictive articles of association made the group hard to acquire, with no single investor able to own more than 20 per cent of shares. Both Burns Philp (through Goodman Fielder) and National Foods have been linked to a bid for SPC Ardmona possibly. Garrard said the takeover talk had been around "for some two or three months", but was not distracting the company from its strategy of organic growth.
