Juicy mango season sour grower returns
20 Dec 2004

A flood of mangoes on the domestic market has had a devastating effect on mango prices, with some growers paid as little as $4 a tray for their fruit. Burdekin District Mango Growers said that going into the season, growers were hopeful of a good year after trees produced a strong crop of mangoes. But the North Queensland season clashed with ripening in the Northern Territory and also in the Mareeba district. The Northern Territory's season ran abnormally long, spilling into December.
