Tomato growers face the chop by SPC
1 Apr 2005

SPC Ardmona said it was unlikely to renew tomato supply contracts with four of its 17 grower suppliers next season. SPC Ardmona said the company needed to get tonnage levels back down after a two-year high, when Italian competition was low because of crop damage. He said the four growers' tomatoes represented less than 10 per cent of the company's total supply. SPC Ardmona expected to accept 75,000 tonnes this year, down from 85,000 tonnes last year.
