Fertiliser controls mandatory from next week
23 Jun 2005

From July 1, fruit and vegetable growers face a mandatory licensing system when buying security sensitive ammonium nitrate fertilisers, as well as the responsibility of providing secure storage. The measure is related to prevention of terrorism, as common fertilisers can be easily used to make bombs. The National Farmers' Federation says it is concerned that the government plans to add a further 30 farm chemicals to the list.
