Vegie growers spit chips over food labelling
5 Jul 2005

The federal government will consider support for Australia's vegetable growers. The assistance package plan, to be presented by growers on July 18, will include new labelling laws to distinguish between local and foreign products. Growers also want a "buy Australian" marketing campaign. Growers' groups AusVeg and the recently formed Fair Dinkum Food campaign are lobbying following the decision by McDonald's to buy half of its potatoes from New Zealand.
