Golden Circle back from the brink
8 Jul 2005

Golden Circle, the Brisbane-based food processing co-operative said it expected to return to profitability this year. A $24 million plant upgrade of the Northgate canning and packaging facility in Brisbane has begun and the company has slashed its debt from $150 million to about $100 million. Golden Circle, an unlisted private company, is owned by a co-operative of 800 members, mainly fruit and vegetable growers. Investment bank Babcock & Brown also now owns a stake.
