WA retailers reach agreement on labelling

Retailers in Western Australia will have to label all imported single source lines of fresh, unpackaged produce under a consistent code, effective immediately. Where multiple supply sources are involved, such as a result of seasonal change or local supply shortage, it has been agreed the retail sector will endeavour to clearly identify each country of origin in the line. Coles Myer, Woolworths, Herdsman Fresh Essentials and Independent Action Group all agreed to the fresh food labelling requirements.
