Tassie farmers rally in Melbourne over Fair Dinkum food campaign
19 Jul 2005

Tasmanian farmers staged their first mainland rally in what they intend will be a three week odyssey to Canberra. The farmers, with their super-sized tractors, are protesting against cheap imported fruit and vegetables. About 40 farmers and eight 10-tonne tractors arrived on the Spirit of Tasmania at Station Pier bound for Victoria's parliament to launch the Fair Dinkum Food Campaign. The rally was the first mainland leg of a 2400 kilometre journey through Victoria and New South Wales to galvanise farmers to descend on Canberra on August 11.
