Citrus growers negotiate some compensation for canker
11 Aug 2005

The Australian and Queensland Governments will contribute a combined 80 per cent of an estimated $11.5 million support package for citrus growers who have lost their orchards in Emerald, in central Queensland. Other citrus growers will bear the rest of the support. The package is intended as part-compensation for the decision to destroy all remaining commercial citrus trees in the pest quarantine Area at Emerald. Affected orchardists wanted $30 million for compensation and for rebuilding. The Land, 11/08/05
