Farmers markets growing but still a tiny niche

Of the 70 or so farmers markets operating each month in many suburbs and towns, two thirds of them have been operating for less than two years. Aggregate sales through farmers markets is around $40 million. The typical shopper at a farmers market is “anti supermarket”.
