Cherry farmers see red

Cherry farmers face a huge glut of fruit. Cherry Export Committee head David Minnis said growers had been encouraged to plant new trees, which were about to reach peak production. However, few new export markets had opened up. The committee estimates consumers could be paying as little as $2 a kilo for cherries this year. But farmers need about $5 to break even.
