ABARE digs into Tasmanian vegetable growers

The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics will investigate the viability of Tasmanian vegetable growers. The state's vegetable farmers have mounted a high profile campaign against cheap imports they say threaten their future. The survey is supported by industry bodies including the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association, Horticulture Australia and the peak vegetable growers group AUSVEG.
It will include questions on farm production, costs and returns, capital investment, irrigation and farm labour.
