Hail storms through granite belt 26 Oct 2005
Hail storms destroyed apple crops and hail netting worth at least $20 million in Queensland’s south-east granite belt on Monday afternoon. About 350 hectares of crops were damaged, with losses estimated at $8 million. The storm dumped thousands of tonnes of hail which weighed down hail nets until they collapsed, crushing the apple and peach trees and destroying the vegetable crops.
