Pears composted by imported concentrate
2 Nov 2005

WA fruit growers expect to dump 1500 tonnes of juicing pears this season. Harvey Fresh has stopped buying pears from local growers, telling producers they still had pear concentrate in cold storage from last season and could not move the product.

The WA Apple and Pear Council said Harvey Fresh could not compete on price with generic brand imported juice, much of it from China.
