Taiwan fruit exports resume for some 23 Jan 2006
Taiwan will only accept stone fruit and cherries from Tasmania and the Riverland of South Australia on the basis that these areas are free from Queensland Fruit Fly under the latest negotiations for a new export protocol. The Taiwanese have rejected fumigation followed by cold treatment, which effectively excludes the option of air freight said the Australian Minister for Agriculture Peter McGauran. Mr McGauran said that there has been no incident of Queensland Fruit Fly in 17 years of Australian exports to Taiwan.
