Emerging industries are a rural success story 23 Jan 2006
Game birds, meat goats and kangaroos are among a group of successful emerging rural industries worth $673 million in total. Crocodile farming, ostriches, Asian vegetables and macadamia nuts as well as olives and coffee are also adding to traditional Australian rural products. The need to diversify in traditional farming areas and environmental concerns in semi arid regions was driving the sectors growth according to research by the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation.
