Taiwan may be lost for good 2 Feb 2006
Exporters fear Australia's biggest single stone fruit market, Taiwan, has been lost for good as cheaper produce from Chile replaces Australian product. Nothing has been exported to Taiwan since the beginning of January when a new Taiwanese fruit fly protocol was introduced. In addition to stone fruit, exports of table grapes, citrus, apples, kiwi fruit, tomatoes, capsicums, melons and strawberries have also been halted.
