Chiquita reports rising profit
22 Feb 2006

Chiquita Brands South Pacific has reported a 30 per cent increase in net profit for the half year to 31 December, up to $7million. Gross earnings were up 46 per cent. The company warned in December that full year profits would be affected by adverse weather conditions at Blueberry Farms, winegrape harvest restrictions and changes in consumer demand for mushrooms. A poor citrus season impacted on the profitability of Yandilla Park in Renmark.
