Big retailers escape F&V code
23 Mar 2006

Coles and Woolworths won't have to conform to terms of the planned code of conduct for the fruit and vegetable industry. The minister for agriculture will take the draft code to federal cabinet next month. The Central Markets Association said the code would fall short of what growers expected. The National Farmers Federation said the code was only ever intended to cover selling arrangements between producers and wholesalers, and not retailers.
