Jobs package for north Queensland coming
4 Apr 2006

A new Training and Jobs package to keep people in the north Queensland region affected by Cyclone Larry is being developed by the federal government said Queensland Premier Peter Beattie. The package is expected to include wage subsidies and welfare benefits. 4000 jobs have been lost as a result of the Cyclone. In addition to extensive Banana crop losses, avocado, papaya, macadamia and lychee crops as well as other tropical fruit crops have been impacted.
