Horticulture code considered by Cabinet
1 May 2006

The draft code of conduct for suppliers and wholesalers in the horticulture industry is believed to be on the agenda of federal Cabinet this week. The draft code continues to exclude retailers, and thus omits Coles and Woolworths from the code, with whom many growers have gripes. Ausveg said vegetable growers often did not know what they would be paid for produce as long as three months after delivery to the wholesale market.
