Filipino bananas may ease local shortages
16 Jun 2006

Biosecurity Australia will call for submissions to a draft plan to import bananas from the Phillipines to ease local shortages in the wake of Cyclone Larry. Consumer prices have hit $15 / kg although prices and supply shortages are expected to ease by the end of the year. A submission to Biosecurity Australia from Filipino banana growers provides assurances that they can provide quality, disease free fruit.
