Frost leaves citrus growers short
27 Jun 2006

Devastating frosts in South Australia’s Riverland have caused big losses in navel orange, mandarin and lemon crops. Up to 20 per cent of the total South Australian navel orange crop is expected to be damaged. Shortages are expected to drive up domestic prices and leave exporters short of fruit. Big US orders have already been left only partially filled. The Australian Citrus Growers said it was the worst frost event since 1982.
