Growing glasshouse tomatoes
29 Jun 2006

Timbercorp said it would invest $25 million in a glasshouse project near Two Wells, north of Adelaide for the production of truss tomatoes. Timbercorp projected revenues in excess of $30 million over three years. The glasshouse project is estimated to produce 5,000 tonnes of truss tomatoes each year with a focus on import replacement and expansion of the domestic market. Around 200,000 tonnes of fresh tomatoes were grown in Australia every year, though less than a quarter was produced in glasshouses or protected environments.
