Winter crop to offer low yield 10 Jul 2006
Only the South Australian winter grain crop is showing signs of average yield with the rest of country’s grain crops in poor shape according to an agricultural consultant. Half of the Victorian crop was reported to be poor or very poor as cool conditions allowed weeds to dominate early sown crops. Three quarters of the Queensland crop is also classified as poor or very poor. Agricultural prices are generally up on a year ago as the dollar depreciated against the US dollar with only dairy recording lower prices than 12 months ago.
