NZ stone fruit cleared to export to WA
18 Aug 2006

New Zealand stone fruit farmers have been cleared to import their produce into Western Australia. Biosecurity Minister ruled it would allow the import of apricots, nectarines, peaches and plums from December. Initially, exports will be limited to stone fruit from the South Island as it is free of the Oriental fruit moth which is not present in Western Australia. North Island stone fruit will gain access, but under different conditions which are yet to be negotiated. New Zealand stone fruit is already exported to other areas of Australia.
