FNQ bananas ripening 21 Aug 2006
Banana farmers in north Queensland fear a labour shortage as they prepare to harvest the first crop since Cyclone Larry devastated most farms in February. Consumers, who have been paying up to $15 a kg for bananas in supermarkets, could expect to see both an increase in the availability of the fruit and a slight drop in price the middle of next month.
