Wine and grain production to slump in SA 25 Sep 2006
Private industry forecasts for the next wine grape harvest show production will fall by 400,000 to 600,000 tonnes unless significant rain falls soon. The drought is also having a severe impact on the livestock, dairy, pork and poultry sectors and fruit and vegetable industries. The South Australian Farmers Federation president Wayne Cornish said there were indications of minimal grain production in several regions, with conditions most severe in the south-east.
