Fruit quality fails after frost
1 Mar 2007

Fruit growers have been hit by water shortages, heat, frost and heavy falls of rain and are struggling to supply good quality crops. In Goulburn Valley, the region that grows 85 per cent of Victoria’s pear crop, growers have reported the worst frost damage on record, with deformities and marks on the fruit. Coles has helped the pear growers by altering specifications, allowing higher percentages of produce on to the fresh market.
