Horticulture gets code of conduct 1 Mar 2007
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) will run information sessions in Victoria on the new Horticultural Code of Conduct. The Code will be mandatory from May 2007 and applies to the sale of fruit, vegetables and wine grapes when they are sold by agents. Peter Cochrane from the Victorian Farmers Federation’s Horticultural Group, says that the code will involve written contracts between growers and wholesalers. The code will help to give growers greater certainty in matters such as the price they get for produce and terms of payment.
