Reef under pressure
1 Jun 2007

The Great Barrier Reef is being damaged by farming practices resulting in too many nutrients with areas of inshore reef dying and algae more prevalent. Guy Marion, a spokesman for the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef studies, said that the coast of Queensland was one of the most intensely farmed areas adjacent to a coral reef.
