Nuts expanding 7 Jun 2007
A new walnut processing plant is to be built in the Riverina region by Webster, an agribusiness company. The plant will cost $2 million to build and could have a turnover of over $100 million, employing more than 120 people. Rob Roberts, chairman of Webster, said "Over the next three years we have further plans for a $100 million processing and packing plant to come on line as walnut production ramps up." Webster also owns a 540 hectare walnut orchard near Devonport in Tasmania.
