Irrigator allocations dry up
18 Jun 2007

Irrigators in South Australia will only receive 1 per cent of their water allocation for July which is only enough for basic activities such as pest spraying. Some irrigators may not even have enough for this – Apricot grower Hilke Ppiros said that they would need at least 2 per cent allocation to do essential treatments in July. "If that's not applied now you have basically missed the boat as far as having a normal harvest goes" said Ms Ppiros. Water restrictions for households in South Australia have been tightened with a ban on water lawns and using sprinklers, hoses and drippers from July 1.
