Pipeline protest proceeds
4 Jul 2007

A protest next Monday by farmers at Kerang will go ahead despite the Victorian Premier's decision to move a cabinet meeting to Gippsland. The irrigators are arguing against a planned pipeline which they believe would increase their costs. The pipeline has split Victorian farmers as the Victorian Farmers Federation opposes the plan as it includes pumping water to Melbourne, but the plan comes from an orchardist and rural advocate John Corboy. The Kerang cabinet meeting has been deferred until AFL grand final week when the issue is less likely to gain coverage in the news.
