No water crushes citrus
11 Jul 2007

A year of zero water allocations for citrus growers along the Murray River would be disastrous. Already many trees have had their top halves removed to reduce their water intake and if there are no water supplies over the coming year they will be reduced to one single branch or simply left to die. Citrus trees are the first perennial crop to feel the effects of the water restrictions as grape vines, apples, pears and almond trees are all currently dormant.
