Citrus growers look for more water
26 Jul 2007

Citrus farmers in the Murray-Darling want the take-over of the water system by the federal government to happen quickly as they face the prospect of a failed crop this year. South Australian citrus grower Mike Arnold said that if the plan were implemented then there could be water savings upstream. "In NSW you can sail a boat down some of their channels, and that's in high summer," he said. However irrigators in NSW and Victoria are already on zero allocations, a restriction that it not likely to be lifted any time soon.
