Bitter harvest for lemon growers
29 Aug 2007

Lemon growers in Victoria are dumping rotten fruit following frost damage which has wiped out up to a third of crops without frost protection. Orchardists in the north of the state were caught out when irrigation cut-backs meant that they could not apply protection to their fruit. Prices paid to farmers have not yet increased from the $1 to $1.20 per kilo.
