Climate change to slash farm output
7 Dec 2007

The Australian Bureau of Agriculture and Resource Economics has predicted that farmers could lose up to 10 per cent of their production within the next 25 years due to climate change. If nothing is done to slow the rate of change the forecaster says that by 2050 output could fall by 13 to 19 per cent. ABARE's chief economist said that work to adapt the agricultural sector to hotter, drier conditions lagged behind other sectors and more needs to be done.
