Man almost drowns in peas 6 May 2008
A man fell into a silo of peas at Esperance in WA and risked being buried alive before he could be rescued. The CBH employee was clearing a blockage from a valve that allows peas to travel into the silo but went down the chute and became buried up to his neck. Rescue workers were called to the scene where an industrial vacuum was used to clear some of the peas so that plastic sheeting could be placed around the man and he could be hauled out, uninjured.
